Hello and welcome Snooker fans! The following list contains the full calendar of all the events for the current 2017/2018 season of the game. Here, you’ll be able to take a look at the top competitions lined up for the next 11 months. As the season reaches its halfway point, things begin to heat up. There are many highlights in this year’s events, but the following stick out the most:
Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo won the team battle in the World Cup finals in Wuxi for a third time, barely defeating the English team. The last frame between Ding and Trump was what decided the match. In the end, it was the Chinese Champion that dominated it, scoring a victory on his home turf. Junhui also won the World Open in Yushan, moving him up to number 2 in the world ranking.
In a surprising turn of events, Australia’s superstar Neil Robertson beat five-time champion Ronnie O’Sullivan in the Hong Kong Masters Finals with a smashing result of 6-3 frames. Before his big face off, the Melbourne machine also had to compete against Mark Selby and Marco Fu, two of the biggest players.
Judd Trump defended his title by winning the European Masters against Stuart Bingham with a score of 9-7. This achievement brings him closer to the number 3 rank and makes him the 12th player with the most crowns won. Trump later commented on his intentions to continue his winning streak at next week’s English Open in Barnsley.
Mark Selby won his first silverware for the season after his International Championship final with 3rd ranked Mark Allen. Despite his dominance during the entire match, the Leicester Jester had to push hard against Allen who closed the gap in the second session.
